명사 기초

Nouns & Pronouns 1

A noun names a person, thing or place. Korean nouns never change shape: 책 stays 책 whether it is one book or many, and grammar is carried by the particle that follows.

Nouns & Pronouns — Plain nouns, pronouns, the plural and counters.

Lesson

A noun is a name that never changes

명사 (noun) names a person, a thing or a place: 사람 (person), 책 (book), 학교 (school). Korean has no articles, so there is no the or a to add. The noun itself stays exactly the same in every sentence.

명사 (संज्ञा) व्यक्ति, वस्तु या स्थान का नाम होती है: 사람 (व्यक्ति), 책 (किताब), 학교 (विद्यालय)। कोरियाई में आर्टिकल नहीं होते, इसलिए उन्हें जोड़ने की ज़रूरत नहीं। संज्ञा हर वाक्य में बिलकुल वैसी ही रहती है।

Grammar rides on the particle

The role of a noun is shown by what comes AFTER it: 책 + 이 = 책이, 물 + 을 = 물을, 학교 + 에 = 학교에. Change the particle and the same noun becomes a subject, an object or a place.

संज्ञा की भूमिका उसके बाद आने वाले कण से पता चलती है: 책 + 이 = 책이, 물 + 을 = 물을, 학교 + 에 = 학교에। कण बदलते ही वही संज्ञा कर्ता, कर्म या स्थान बन जाती है।

Nouns in real sentences

책이 있어요 (There is a book). 물을 마셔요 (I drink water). 학교에 가요 (I go to school). 집에서 밥을 먹어요 (I eat rice at home).

책이 있어요 (एक किताब है)। 물을 마셔요 (मैं पानी पीता हूँ)। 학교에 가요 (मैं विद्यालय जाता हूँ)। 집에서 밥을 먹어요 (मैं घर पर भोजन करता हूँ)।

Naming what you see

Point at things at home and name them: 책상 (desk), 의자 (chair), 창문 (window), 문 (door). Naming real objects is the fastest way to grow everyday vocabulary.

घर की वस्तुओं की ओर इशारा करके नाम बोलें: 책상 (मेज़), 의자 (कुर्सी), 창문 (खिड़की), 문 (दरवाज़ा)। असली वस्तुओं के नाम बोलना रोज़मर्रा की शब्दावली बढ़ाने का सबसे तेज़ रास्ता है।

Adding English articles to Korean nouns

Learners translate a book as 한 책 or the book as 그 책 where the article is meaningless. Korean simply says 책. Only add 그 or 이 when you truly mean that one or this one.

शिक्षार्थी "एक पुस्तक" के लिए 한 책 या "उस पुस्तक" के लिए 그 책 जोड़ देते हैं जबकि वहाँ आर्टिकल का कोई अर्थ नहीं। कोरियाई में केवल 책 कहा जाता है। 그 या 이 तभी जोड़ें जब सचमुच वह वाला या यह वाला मतलब हो।

Learn a noun with one particle

Store each noun already attached to a particle: 밥을, 학교에, 친구가. A noun learned with its particle is a noun you can actually use, not just recognise.

हर संज्ञा को किसी कण के साथ ही याद रखें: 밥을, 학교에, 친구가। कण के साथ सीखी संज्ञा केवल पहचानने की नहीं, प्रयोग करने की चीज़ बन जाती है।
