TOPIK I tests only listening and reading: 70 questions in about 100 minutes, with no writing or speaking section. The cut-off score, not a pass line inside the paper, decides whether you earn grade 1 or grade 2.
TOPIK Preparation — TOPIK I and II format, scoring and strategy.
TOPIK I has two sections: 듣기 (listening) with 30 questions and 읽기 (reading) with 40 questions, 70 in total. There is no 쓰기 (writing) and no speaking part. The whole paper lasts about 100 minutes, so every question is worth the same single mark.
TOPIK I में दो भाग होते हैं: 듣기 (सुनना) में 30 प्रश्न और 읽기 (पढ़ना) में 40 प्रश्न, कुल 70 प्रश्न। इसमें 쓰기 (लिखना) और बोलने का भाग नहीं होता। पूरा पेपर लगभग 100 मिनट चलता है, इसलिए हर प्रश्न का मूल्य समान एक अंक होता है।
Total = 200 points = 듣기 100 + 읽기 100. Grade 1 needs 80 points or more; grade 2 needs 140 or more. Below 80 there is no grade at all, so the safe target for a beginner is the 80 line, and for elementary level the 140 line.

Listening: 여기는 어디입니까? (Where is this place?). Reading: 무엇에 대한 내용입니까? (What is this text about?) and 무엇을 고르는 것이 가장 좋습니까? (What is best to choose?). The 낱말 (word) and 문장 (sentence) items sit at the start; the 담화 (discourse) items sit at the end.
सुनने में: 여기는 어디입니까? (यह स्थान कहाँ है?)। पढ़ने में: 무엇에 대한 내용입니까? (यह पाठ किस बारे में है?) और 무엇을 고르는 것이 가장 좋습니까? (क्या चुनना सबसे अच्छा है?)। 낱말 (शब्द) और 문장 (वाक्य) के प्रश्न शुरू में आते हैं; 담화 (संवाद-पाठ) के प्रश्न अंत में आते हैं।
The exam is written on an OMR answer sheet at a fixed time: no dictionary, no phone, no dictionary app. Pencil, eraser and your identity card are the only tools. Practise at the same hour as your real sitting so your mind is awake then.
परीक्षा निर्धारित समय पर OMR उत्तर-पत्र पर दी जाती है: न शब्दकोश, न फ़ोन, न शब्दकोश ऐप। पेंसिल, रबर और पहचान-पत्र ही एकमात्र साधन हैं। असली परीक्षा के उसी समय अभ्यास करें ताकि उस समय आपका मन जाग्रत हो।
Most learners study grammar for months but never sit a timed full paper, then rush the last 20 reading questions and leave blanks. Train with a watch from the first mock test: 100 minutes for 70 questions, roughly 1.4 minutes each.
अधिकांश शिक्षार्थी महीनों व्याकरण पढ़ते हैं पर कभी समयबद्ध पूरा पेपर नहीं देते, फिर अंत के 20 पठन प्रश्नों में जल्दबाज़ी करते हैं और खाली छोड़ देते हैं। पहले मॉक टेस्ट से ही घड़ी के साथ अभ्यास करें: 70 प्रश्नों के लिए 100 मिनट, यानी लगभग 1.4 मिनट प्रति प्रश्न।
There is no negative marking in TOPIK I, so a blank and a wrong answer both score zero. Always shade one oval for every question; a guess is free, a blank is wasted.
TOPIK I में ऋणात्मक अंकन नहीं होता, इसलिए खाली छोड़ा प्रश्न और ग़लत उत्तर दोनों शून्य देते हैं। हर प्रश्न पर एक वृत्त अवश्य भरें; अनुमान मुफ़्त है, खाली छोड़ना बर्बादी है।
Because there is no writing, the paper rewards recognition speed over production. Aim to answer the first 40 questions in under 50 minutes, then spend the remaining time on the long reading texts at the end.
चूँकि लेखन भाग नहीं है, पेपर रचना की तुलना में पहचान की गति को पुरस्कृत करता है। लक्ष्य रखें कि पहले 40 प्रश्न 50 मिनट से कम में हों, फिर बचा समय अंत के लंबे पठन-पाठों पर लगाएँ।
