Particles 2
의 links two nouns so the first owns or belongs to the second: 나의 책 is "my book". In speech it is pronounced like 에.
Particles — 은/는, 이/가, 을/를, 에/에서 and the rest of the particle system.
의 sits between two nouns. The noun before 의 is the owner; the noun after it is the thing owned: 친구의 집 (a friend’s house). It never stands alone and never ends a sentence.
의 दो संज्ञाओं के बीच आता है। 의 से पहले की संज्ञा मालिक होती है और बाद की संज्ञा वस्तु: 친구의 집 (मित्र का घर)। यह अकेला नहीं आता और वाक्य के अंत में नहीं आता।
The form is the same after a vowel or a batchim: 나 + 의 = 나의, 선생님 + 의 = 선생님의. 나의, 너의 and 저의 shrink to 내, 네 and 제 in everyday speech.
स्वर हो या बतचिम, रूप एक ही रहता है: 나 + 의 = 나의, 선생님 + 의 = 선생님의। रोज़मर्रा की बोली में 나의, 너의 और 저의 सिकुड़कर 내, 네 और 제 बन जाते हैं।
저의 책이에요 (It is my book). 한국의 수도는 서울이에요 (The capital of Korea is Seoul). 회사의 이름을 몰라요 (I do not know the company name). 오늘의 날씨가 좋아요 (Today’s weather is good).
저의 책이에요 (यह मेरी किताब है)। 한국의 수도는 서울이에요 (कोरिया की राजधानी सियोल है)। 회사의 이름을 몰라요 (मैं कंपनी का नाम नहीं जानता)। 오늘의 날씨가 좋아요 (आज का मौसम अच्छा है)।
의 is everywhere in titles and signs: 한국의 역사 (Korean history), 오늘의 메뉴 (today’s menu), 우리의 꿈 (our dream). In quick conversation Koreans often drop it and just say 우리 학교 for "our school".
의 शीर्षकों और साइनबोर्डों में हर जगह मिलता है: 한국의 역사 (कोरिया का इतिहास), 오늘의 메뉴 (आज का मेन्यू), 우리의 꿈 (हमारा सपना)। तेज़ बोलचाल में कोरियन इसे प्रायः छोड़ देते हैं और "हमारा स्कूल" के लिए केवल 우리 학교 कहते हैं।
Because 의 is pronounced like 에, learners start writing 에: 저에 책 is wrong, the written form is 저의 책. Sound and spelling part company here, so keep 의 in writing and say 에 only in speech.
चूँकि 의 का उच्चारण 에 जैसा होता है, शिक्षार्थी लिखने में 에 लगा देते हैं: 저에 책 गलत है, सही लिखित रूप 저의 책 है। यहाँ उच्चारण और वर्तनी अलग हो जाते हैं, इसलिए लिखने में 의 रखें और बोलने में ही 에 कहें।
Memorise 나의 -> 내, 너의 -> 네, 저의 -> 제 as single words. These short forms are what people actually say, and TOPIK uses them far more often than the full 나의.
나의 -> 내, 너의 -> 네, 저의 -> 제 को अलग शब्दों की तरह याद करें। लोग वास्तव में इन्हीं छोटे रूपों का प्रयोग करते हैं, और TOPIK में पूर्ण 나의 की तुलना में ये कहीं अधिक आते हैं।
TOPIK I prefers the three short forms and simple noun+의+noun phrases such as 한국의 수도. If you see 내 and 네, remember they already contain the meaning of 의.
TOPIK I प्रायः तीन छोटे रूपों और 한국의 수도 जैसे सरल संज्ञा+의+संज्ञा वाक्यांशों को पसंद करता है। यदि 내 और 네 दिखें तो याद रखें कि उनमें 의 का अर्थ पहले से मौजूद है।
